Think about the ceilings that are in your house. Or in your office or in any place that you go to regularly. The chances are, you would not be able to draw them out with any kind of accuracy. The thing is, we don’t often look up. Why would we? We normally look straight and down. For security and for efficacy. It probably stems from evolutionary systems. Why do humans need to look up? There are no predatory birds and there is a sun that will force our eyes down in pain, as we shield our brow and wait for the muddled afterglow to fade.
But, there is one circumstance in which you are guaranteed to look up, to notice the ceiling. This is when there is something wrong. Just as we don’t often notice the sky above our heads, but we definitely would if it suddenly began to peel slightly… we don’t notice ceilings unless they are not in a good state of repair. It is a strange phenomenon but it means that we don’t have a choice. If we want to keep a good and stylish home, we have to make sure that our ceilings are a consistent color, without too much damage on them. May be you want some texture work. There is no problem for us too.
We call this the block effect. If a color is uniform across a space, if is stretches out like a blanket or an ocean, we don’t need to focus on it. Why? Because there is nothing for the eye to look at. Colour is converted by the eye through light, it is not something that exists externally. Hard to get your head around, right? Well, here’s the thing - if you see something with details, it suggests there is something there, good or bad. If something is uniform, or, plain, it adds to the atmosphere of a space but it doesn’t attract our scrutiny. It is the same with ceilings. If you want people to notice them - let them disintegrate. If you want them to blend in and add to the room’s aesthetic, give them a fresh lick of paint.
Many people still think of ceiling painting as a DIY task. We can’t get our heads around this. It simply isn’t. Whether you have a chair and a stick or a roller and a ladder, it is needlessly dangerous. But not for us. We have the equipment and the know how to get the job done in half of the time and with half of the risk as well. We have been doing this for long enough that the procedure and the preparation is second nature. It is something that comes to us naturally and it will be cheaper than you think as well.
If we are getting the work done for you, it gives you more time to relax with your family, to spend time with them, or with friends, to earn more money, to do your hobby and generally, to live your life with one less stress in it - a great idea!
